Kickboxing
Kickboxing is a stand-up fighting system combining punching, kicking and clinching techniques from a variety of martial arts. Our classes are intended to be a broad church for people of all levels to enjoy. We are not a fighters but fighters will train with us for quality and to refine their technique. We train to develop functional technique and test our technique through pair work, loop drills and light sparring. Go SLOW and GROW.
All students will be required to purchase Kickboxing trousers/shorts, gloves, shin/instep guards, mouth guards and focus pads within the first 4 weeks of joining. COVID has brought an end to the days where coaches carry lots of spare smelly equipment. Training with pads and gloves is an intrinsic part of every class.
Class Format
Classes generally start with a warm up and stretching. Basic techniques are generally taught in lines and then quickly progress to application on focus pads. We train loop drills in pairs wearing gloves to build familiarity and confidence in technique. We often include or incorporate techniques from other arts to give students a rounded appreciation of martial arts.

Sparring
Sparring should always be controlled and light. Low stakes. We wear gloves and protective equipment so that we can train longer, not hit harder. Turning up the dial on a punch or kick is easy. We want lots of controlled experience not lots of headaches!
TOO FAR - TOO FAST - TOO HARD
